As trusted removalists in Sydney well versed in furniture removals and pre-packs and storage we so often see customers who have packed up themselves and have made an absolute mess of it so our goals here is to share some tips on how we can make the pack and move process easier for you when you are moving home.
Here we have basic kitchen and we are going to show you what it takes to pack a kitchen.
First of all is actually setting up a work area that works for you. It means clearing a space on a table or bench and getting it ready for the packing process. We prepare professional packing materials specifically for furniture removals and office removalist requirements such as packing paper, packing cartons or Tea chest size cartons.
You also have book boxes and fragile cartons, tape, pens, depending on what you’re actually packing.
What you do is pick up the box and open it up and stick a nice couple layers of tape so the box is prepared and then you want to put it in a good working position.
What you can do is put the large box on a small book box so you have good working area. Then open the box up and fold the sides down. Then begin packing the box with the large items like pots and pans and wrap them up with a couple pieces of butchers paper and then turn it over and wrap it up again so is completely wrapped.
Each item should be put vertically in the packing carton. The reason for this is especially when you have fragile goods like crockery or plates when the truck goes over a bump in the road or vibrates they can crack or break if they are packed horizontally so that is why they should be packed vertically in the box so it protects your items and is much safer in transit.
Then put a thick layer of scrunched up paper in the bottom of the box for protection from vibration. Then put your wrapped items in the box and continue to wrap up each piece individually with the same process. You want to put the larger and heavier pots and pans in the carton first and smaller items like plates and crockery if you are sharing the box with various items on top of each piece in the box, remembering to put a layer of scrunched paper between each item to protect each piece. Of course you wrap the items like they do in the fish and chip shop.
Is always wise to use unprinted butchers paper because if you use newspaper the ink can make a mess so always use unprinted paper. When you wrap your plates is ok to wrap each plate with a piece of butchers paper and you can put a half dozen plates together and wrap again and put vertically in the carton and you could pretty much travel anywhere and in normal transit circumstances your goods will arrive safe and intact as long as you have a layer of protective cushioning and they are wrapped correctly.
When you are packing glasses or cups is also necessary to stand these up vertically in the carton.
And then when you are ready to close the carton lift up the flaps on the side and scrunch several pieces of butchers paper and put on top of the items in the top of the box and then fold the flaps of the box down and you will have a nice thick layer of cushioning in the top of the box also.
Then tape the box closed and with the marking pen label the box, by writing on the tape so you will know exactly what is in the box so the removalists know if there is fragile goods in the box so they can pack the truck correctly and the correct destination in your new home.
Now you have completed a kitchen dish pack. Ideally you should be able to drop it and nothing will break. Not that a professional removalist or you as the customer is ever going to do that but when it is professionally packed it should arrive safe and sound.
So often some people won’t take into consideration correct packing procedures and they want to do it themselves and on the cheap and they pack their own goods incorrectly and then when they arrive at their new home and things are broken they say “what happened”.
That is why it is so important to pack correctly.
Also when a customer packs their own goods, which is called a PBO or “packed by owner”, even if they chose to insure their goods for handling or breakages and something does happen and they make a claim on their insurance then their insurance company wont pay out on the goods because is packed by owner.
So now that you know how to do a kitchen dish pack you can do it yourself, or if you find the task to difficult or time consuming or you simply would rather not have the stress of doing a kitchen pre-pack yourself and you would like expert removalist pre-packers in Sydney to do it for you then you can email us or call us on 0414 478 686 and one of our friendly professional Sydney removalists will assist in any way we can.
