William, the developer of an apartment buidling in Mascot, contacted us several weeks ago saying he had this very expensive and huge 2.6 metre long, 80-90kg imported lounge worth a fortune that wouldn’t fit in the lift and he said that all the other removalists in Sydney he had contacted said it was not possible to bring up the 240 or so fire stairs to level 12 as it wouldn’t fit that way either and asked if I could do a balcony lift.
As he is the developer of the building we were able to gain access as they were the only tenants as he had only recently completed building the apartments. I went and had a look and from a safety aspect and logistics aspect it wasn’t viable to do a balcony lift but I said let me have a look at the stairwell anyway. It looked as though it might fit but it would be a really difficult lift but I would give it a whirl. Anyway I went there today and had to carry it backwards upstairs at full arm extension above my head and I had a couple guys on the lower side to keep it balanced and it took an hour of extremely hard work as it only had a cm on each corner to fit beneath the plumbing pipes and we couldn’t put it down on the concrete floors as it was so valuable. Got it up safely into the Penthouse apartment and William and his family were very happy with the result.
