Hi again this another video tutorial from Sydney Domain Furniture Removals.
As many people moving in Sydney have experienced sometimes furniture just wont fit in their new home and the only way to get their furniture in the apartment or house is with a balcony lift.
From wrapping, to fashioning the straps that make the lifting harness to positioning the lounge correctly and then conducting the balcony lift correctly.
There are various ways of doing a balcony lift such as using a hoist or lifting straps. At Sydney Domain Furniture Removals we use lifting straps when doing a balcony lift. So many occasions I have heard about balcony lifts being done incorrectly so I decided to put up this video showing the correct process with lifting straps.
To begin with I have wrapped the three seater lounge with protective blankets and then shrink wrap to protect the lounge from the straps and also from the side of the apartments or house for when it is being lifted.
Then I am shown securing the straps correctly into the lifting harness.
This is a very important part of the balcony lift process because if the straps are not fashioned into the lifting harness the right way and something goes wrong the lounge can slide, whereas when the straps are secured the right way then if one strap slides then the lounge will still be held by the other straps. As such the straps must be always done correctly. With balcony lifts the priority is safety and then doing the lift. It is always much more difficult to bring it up over the balcony than it is to lift it normally and although in the video it looks very easy it is only because of knowing how to conduct the preparation and lift correctly. Customers regularly assist with balcony lifts as it keeps the cost down and is much easier with more people. The image doesn’t show the complete lift as several levels were behind the bushes which were 4-5 metres high and the total lift was approximately 12 metres. Because of the length of the video I have increased the clip speed to reduce the duration of the video and as such the lift looks a little imbalanced but it was actually a very smooth and safe balcony lift.
Remember that it’s considerably more difficult then it looks and has to be done correctly so you should never try to do a balcony lift on your own and you should always make sure the removalist who is doing your precision item relocation has the right amount of experience and equipment to do your lift correctly and safely.
