Every home looks warm and inviting with a multitude of small-framed pictures of your family and friends, of the various places you’ve been to, or simply works of art that are pleasing to the eye. Unfortunately these fragile items will leave you hassled when you are considering moving interstate or even local furniture removals and that is why it is important to know how to correctly pack and carton small framed pictures.
However, you need not fear; the process of properly pre-packing framed pictures for local or even interstate removals is quite easy, provided you follow the simple instructions below:
What do you require?
Start off with making an estimate of the number of pictures involved –you will have to arrange for the supplies that will be required, such as moving boxes, brown paper, sheets of bubble wrap, rolls of adhesive tape, and a thick permanent marker for labelling.
How to pack?
Put down a picture frame in the centre of a thick brown paper sheet. Now, using as many sheets as required, wrap the photo frame like you would wrap a present. Use plenty of packing tape to secure the picture and then wrap each item with a sheet of bubble wrap. You should, at this point of time, mark the package so that you can easily identify them when unpacking the moving boxes.
Ideal for packing pictures are mirror boxes as these can be adjusted to the size required. Take the first section of the two that usually constitute mirror moving boxes and pad up the corners and sides with packing paper. You can also look out for cardboard corners that are specially made for these applications.
Now, carefully slip in the picture frame into one side of the mirror box and position it securely along the sides of the box and then cautiously slide into position the other section of the box and tightly secure both the sections so that the picture frame within cannot shift. If you perceive that the two sections are not fitting as snugly as you would have wished, you can insert some more paper as padding and try again.
After ensuring that the box is tightly packed and the contents within will not move around, tape the box securely with plenty of adhesive tape all around the joint of the sections. If you have multiple pictures of the same size then you can wrap them up individually and insert in a single mirror box, but be sure to use lots of padding between each picture inside.
